Pro Evolution Soccer 2012

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is another follow up where you can have 'unrivalled levels of control'. You can play the game 'your way'. You can lure players into offside and you have the most advanced control than ever before. But we've all heard this before. Every year a new version promises the expectations we never see. Luckily for the developer there are loyal fan base that support the game no matter what. And so they ride on promises that never materialize and every year they claim to get it right.

No matter what the developer claims, it has to be supported on the pitch. It's disappointing to find that we've been subjected to another hyperbole of promises that don't deliver. Last year we saw great improvement and smart features, but the game suffered a serious lack of gameplay and excitement. This year we have more of the same with Pro Evolution Soccer 2012. If you've played the games in the past, you will know the disappointment and despair when the game failed to live up to expectation despite all the fancy super bowel ads that promised nirvana.

Once you start playing Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 you soon realize maintaining possession of the ball remains a hit and miss affair. Your team mates are quicker this time to come to your aid should you be under pressure from losing the ball and that is a big improvement. Passing the ball to other team mates can become exasperating as they never seem to be in the right position. The game has too many start stop throw-ins that ruins the fun of continuous play. The referee blows for any small infringement and doesn't allow the ball to stay in play for long. When a serious infringement is made he lets it pass allowing advantage to the opposition team.
The game controls are somewhat clumsy and button mashing becomes an uncontrollable frenzy. On the rare occasion when you pass the ball and it finds its target man, you'll think the developer finally got it right. Why are gamers so forgiving? You'll wonder if all the new features are really necessary when fundamental passing and dribbling is as dodgy as ever. You have the ability to influence the position of other players and this works fine on the stick, but during gameplay it's not all that practical. Multitasking is quite difficult and you'll find you really can't control the game when so much is going on.
The actually game is fast and full of action and that makes it a bit more exciting than it really is. You can play online matches and set up communities and get all your friends to join in the fun.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 might not be the best simulation game you've been looking for, but it has its moments. If you're willing to look past its flaws and serious inhibitions you might just enjoy playing the game.
